Education is Everything.

While Hospitalito Atitlan relies heavily on professional volunteers from around the world, the long-term success of the Hospitalito depends on its permanent indigenous professionals.

Continuing education scholarships are vital for these individuals to learn beyond the basics of their specialty. Currently three employees at Hospitalito Atitlán are traveling weekends to Guatemala City for their continuing education courses and classes. Depending on the particular education program, this may take place over many months and sometimes several years. During the recipient's absence at work a temporary replacement will be paid to cover their position.

Each $3000 scholarship will cover the expense of the continuing education program, books and supplies, the salary of the temporary replacement for one day each week, and travel compensation.

Currently, HA is seeking sponsorship for continuing education scholarships for the following positions: Pharmacist, X-Ray/Ultrasound Technologist, Social Worker, and Mechanical Engineer.
